Pampas Grass is a striking ornamental grass, forming large, compact clumps of rough-edged, evergreen leaves. In summer, tall, strong stems bear dense, silvery flower plumes that rise elegantly above the foliage. Traditionally grown as a lawn specimen, Pampas Grass also works beautifully in shrub borders alongside herbaceous perennials. In larger gardens, it makes a dramatic impact when planted in informal drifts among trees. Its sharp-edged leaves also make it a useful, natural barrier, ideal for creating intruder-proof boundaries. The tall, feathery plumes are excellent for drying and flower arranging, but also provide stunning winter interest when left standing, especially when rimmed with frost.
